dust mites
House dust mites are tiny eight-legged creatures which live inside our homes. No matter how clean your home is, you can be sure that there are dust mites in it. There are about 10 000 of these mites living inside your bed, where they feed off the dead skin cells that fall of your body.
Dust mites themselves are not harmful to humans. However, their faeces can be. Dust mites defecate about twenty times a day. Their droppings are microscopically small and are easily stirred up into the air, where they float in an invisible cloud throughout your home. These droppings come in contact with your skin and are also inhaled into your lungs when you breath.
Each of these dropping contains several enzymes and proteins which can cause an allergic reaction in people. Some people are especially sensitive to these allergens, and other who are not especially sensitive to them still develop an allergic reaction if there are a particularly large number of dust mites in their environment. When dust mite faeces are breathed into your lungs, their enzymes attack the bonds between the delicate cells of lung tissue. Once this damage has been caused, you are especially vulnerable to the allergenic proteins found in the droppings. Once you are exposed to these allergens, your body’s immune system reacts by producing a hormone called a histamine, which results in an allergic reaction. Allergic reactions to dust mites can cause hay fever, runny nose, itching, rashes and red eyes. Babies are especially vulnerable to dust mites and their allergic reaction can manifest as eczema and urticaria. Dust mites have even been linked asthma.

allergies
Allergies can also trigger asthma attacks and have been linked to insomnia and ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) in children. If the above symptoms are especially noticeable in the
mornings when you wake up, it is likely that airborne allergens are affecting you while you sleep. Allergens are substances which provoke allergic reactions and airborne ones are
caused by dust mites, pollen and pets. Proteins in dust mite excretions, in pollen and in pet dander (which are tiny scales of skin and hair released by your pet) react with your body’s
immune system to produce histamines which, in turn, arouse the above mentioned symptoms.
Solutions to the problem of allergies include taking anti-histamine drugs and avoiding the cause of allergies. However, anti-histamine drugs can be expensive and have negative side
effects and avoidance of the causes of allergies is not always possible. Dust mites, for instance, live all around our homes, especially in our beds, and it is almost impossible to
eliminate them. Our pets create a lot of joy in our lives and we do not want to avoid them. A third solution to the problem of allergies is to neutralise the allergens which cause these allergies.
We have developed products to use in your home to eliminate allergies by neutralising the allergens which cause them. Mitefree Dust Mite Spray and Mitefree Laundry Additive have been developed
to destroy the allergens caused by dust mites and pollen. Mitefree React2Pet prevents allergies caused by your pets. Mitefree PetRelief alleviates the symptoms of allergies in your pets.
