Living With Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
ADHD, which is the acronym for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and is a disorder found primarily with kids and closely linked to the brains malfunctioning. ADHD is said to be present among 3 – 5% of school kids with a rather disturbing increase being noted. “ADHD brains are like motor spark-plugs that seem to miss the correct firing mechanism,” These are analogies used by some learning professionals like Priscilla Vail. What they say further is that, “ADHD thoughts, make up other thoughts without any mechanism – let alone the correct pathway or discipline.”
There are three well known ADHD symptoms to look out for:
The 1st is inattentiveness: Children with ADHD cannot decipher what is important and filter out what is not vital. Children with ADHD are disturbed easily by little things like odors, noise or sight. The 2nd is Impulsive behavior: This can be dangerous because the child will act and then think after they have acted and does not think of the consequences. The 3rd is Hyperactivity: Constant fidgeting and cannot remain still for any given period of time with a very short attention span.
Recent studies now say that ADHD is more linked to a disturbance with brain functioning.
